Turkish Cuisine is largely the continuation of Ottoman cuisines, which in turn borrowed many elements from Balkan, Greek, Middle Eastern and Asian cuisines (such as Gyros and Falafel). The Ottomans fused various culinary traditions of their realm with influences from Levantine cuisines, along with traditional Turkic elements from Central Asia (such as yogurt and Manti), creating a vast array of specialties.
I grew up in Istanbul, began my career in the hospitality sector at the Istanbul Sheraton Hotel & Towers as Banquet Manager. I then founded a food business in Munich, Germany, and finally moved to New York. Out of my love for food and service, and also to partake in promoting the Turkish culture here, I founded AlaTurca in 2014.
I love all that is creative, and am an afficionado of the Arts. I also believe in charity, giving back to my community.
Here, at AlaTurca, we strive to give you an experience to remember. First and utmost is the quality of fresh and healthy ingredients we use in our kitchen. We are happy to recommend dishes and tell their tales as well.
–Looking forward to meeting you-
